What is the drive like?

Route 5 follows the coast north from Jeddah. Rest, prayer and meal stops are included at no extra charge, and Rabigh, about 150 km from Jeddah, is the usual place to stop.

On the way you pass the turn-offs for KAUST and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). Drop-offs at either need gate registration, so tell us in advance if you want to stop there.

If you need an extra stop for a meal, prayer or a rest, tell the driver when you book or on the way.

Fly to Yanbu or drive from Jeddah?

Yanbu has its own airport. Yanbu Airport (YNB) is about 10 km from the city, and a taxi from there costs from SAR 60. Check the airlines for a route that connects with your flight; if none fits, landing in Jeddah and finishing by road is the alternative. Our Yanbu Airport guide has more.

  • For a plant or site, add the company name, the gate and a contact.

  • At Terminal 1, your driver waits at the arrivals exit gate after customs with a name board, and waits free for 60 minutes after landing.
  • Ask for a cargo van if you carry tools or a lot of luggage.
  • Save the driver's name and plate number, sent the day before.
