Planning transport for a 10-day Umrah, day by day

A 10-day Umrah transport plan needs five main rides: Jeddah Airport to Makkah (about 1 h 25 min, from SAR 180), a Makkah Ziyarat, Makkah to Madinah (about 4 h 30 min, from SAR 770), a Madinah Ziyarat and the ride to Madinah Airport. Book them together as one Umrah package, with every fare fixed per car before you travel.

A 10-day Umrah transport plan at a glance

This Umrah transport plan assumes you fly into Jeddah, spend five days in Makkah, travel by road to Madinah, spend four days there and fly home from Madinah. Many pilgrims follow this order or its reverse. Adjust the days to your flights, your Nusuk slot and your group.

The plan covers transport only. Religious steps, such as when to enter Ihram, are mentioned where they affect the ride; ask a scholar you trust about your own case.

Days 1 and 2: arrival and Umrah

If you fly to Jeddah for Umrah, you will usually be in Ihram before landing, so the airport ride takes you to your hotel and then the Haram. The drive is 102 km, about 1 h 25 min. Your driver tracks the flight and waits free for 60 minutes after landing, and pickups between 00:00 and 05:00 carry a 20% night surcharge shown in the quote.

Book your Nusuk Umrah slot with a margin after landing. If you land at night, a slot later the next day gives you time to rest. Our Nusuk permit guide explains the booking.

Days 3 to 5: Ziyarat and a day trip from Makkah

A Makkah Ziyarat by car takes about 3 to 4 hours. Jabal al-Nour is about 5 km from the Haram, Mina about 7 km, Muzdalifah about 12 km and Arafat about 20 km. Go after Fajr or in the late afternoon to avoid the heat; the driver waits at each site.

Taif is 90 km away, about 1 h 30 min each way up the Al Hada road, and around 10 °C cooler than Makkah in summer. Book a full-day hourly driver for it. In March and April, the rose farms are in harvest.

Day 6: Makkah to Madinah

The Makkah to Madinah taxi covers 450 km in about 4 h 30 min, hotel to hotel, with one rest stop at Al Faqih or Badr about halfway. A family van for up to 11 people costs from SAR 1,440. Book the check-out pickup away from a prayer time, when central Makkah roads are open, and agree the pickup point the night before.

The Haramain train suits solo travellers with light bags, but you need taxis at both ends, since both stations are outside the central areas.

Days 7 to 9: Madinah

Central Madinah hotels are within walking distance of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, so you may not need a car on prayer days. Book your Rawdah slot on Nusuk for a day after you arrive. For Ziyarat, Masjid Quba is about 4 km away, and Saturday mornings are the Sunnah time to visit and the busiest. Badr is a half-day trip of about 1 h 30 min each way.

Day 10, and the reverse plan

From a central hotel, Madinah Airport is about 25 min away. If you fly home from Jeddah instead, the drive from Madinah to Jeddah Airport is about 5 h and costs from SAR 690 per car.

The reverse plan works just as well: fly into Madinah, spend your first days there, then enter Ihram at Dhul Hulayfah on the road to Makkah and fly home from Jeddah. Your driver stops at the Miqat at no extra charge; allow 30 to 45 minutes.

Which vehicle for your group?

Fares are per car, so for 5 to 11 people one family van is usually cheaper and simpler than two sedans.

Questions readers ask

Do I have to book every ride at once?

No, but booking the main legs together as an Umrah transport package keeps one team on your whole trip. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before each pickup.

Can we keep the same driver for the whole trip?

Where possible, yes. Ask when you book and we try to hold the same driver for several legs, subject to availability.

Is a return trip cheaper?

Return bookings are discounted. Ask for the round-trip fare when you book on WhatsApp.

Can the plan work for elderly parents?

Yes. Choose a hotel close to the Haram, add a wheelchair-accessible van if needed, and keep Ziyarat to short mornings with plenty of rest days in between.

What if my flight changes?

Message us on WhatsApp with the new flight number. Changes to time or vehicle are free whenever possible, and we track the flight on the day.
