Al Ahsa airport taxi: the basics
An Al Ahsa airport taxi is the quickest way from the plane to Hofuf, the main city of the Al Ahsa oasis. Al Ahsa International Airport (HOF) has a single terminal close to the city, and your driver waits at the arrivals exit with a name board.
Al Ahsa is one of the largest oases in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with palm groves, springs, caves and old markets. It pairs well with a stay in Dammam or Al Khobar, further up the Eastern Province.

Seeing the oasis with an hourly driver
The oasis sights are spread out, so an hourly driver from SAR 80 per hour, with a 3-hour minimum, is the easiest way to see several in one day. The driver waits at each stop.
- Al Qarah's limestone caves stay cool even in summer; wear shoes with grip.
- Ibrahim Palace is close to Qaisariya Souq, so the two fit into one stop. Check opening hours first.
- The date harvest is in late summer; October to April is the most comfortable time for touring.

Fly into Al Ahsa or Dammam?

Train and road links
Hofuf Station on the SAR East Line links Al Ahsa with Riyadh, Abqaiq and Dammam. It is about 5 km from central Hofuf, and your driver can meet you at the exit and track the train for delays. Train fares and timetables change; check SAR before you travel.
By road, Al Ahsa to Riyadh is 327 km, about 4 h. Abqaiq, home to one of Aramco's largest oil processing plants, is 94 km from the airport; gate passes are needed beyond some checkpoints, so give us the gate name when you book.
Companies can open a corporate account for staff runs between the airport, Hofuf, Abqaiq and Dammam, with one monthly invoice including VAT and trip reports per cost centre.
Flying out of Al Ahsa
Check your airline's check-in cut-off and add the drive: about 20 min from central Hofuf, 1 h 55 min from Dammam or 1 h 55 min from Al Khobar. Book the pickup by the day before so you receive the driver's name and plate in advance.
