Abha airport taxi: the basics
An Abha airport taxi is the simplest way into the Asir highlands. Abha International Airport (AHB) has a single terminal and serves both Abha and Khamis Mushait. Beyond the two cities, mountain roads run along the escarpment to Al Namas and down towards the coast, so the drive time depends on where you are staying.
Summer, from June to September, is peak season in Abha, when visitors come for the cooler air and demand for cars rises. Book your transfer as soon as your flight is confirmed.

Arriving at Abha Airport, step by step
- Immigration and customs: on an international flight, have your passport and visa ready, then follow the signs to the arrivals hall.
- Baggage claim: collect your bags and a trolley if you need one.
- Meeting point: your driver waits at the arrivals exit, opposite the taxi rank, holding a name board.
- Delays: the driver tracks your flight and waits free for 60 minutes after landing, with no charge for airline delays.

Abha or Khamis Mushait: which is closer?
Abha is 25 km from the airport and Khamis Mushait 20 km. The two cities are about 30 km apart, with a flat fare of SAR 60 between them, so staying in one and visiting the other is easy.
Ahad Rafidah, south-east of Khamis Mushait, is also a short drive from the airport, 33 km, about 35 min.
Mountain roads from the airport
Tell us if anyone in your group gets car-sick, and the driver plans extra stops on the way. The main mountain roads are paved and sedans manage them well; an SUV adds space and comfort for families with luggage on the longer drives.

Summer trips from Abha

Flying out of Abha
Check your airline's check-in cut-off and add the drive: about 30 min from central Abha or 20 min from Khamis Mushait. If you are coming from Al Namas or Rijal Alma on the day you fly, leave extra time for the mountain roads, and book the pickup by the day before so you have the driver's name and plate in advance.
