Why go straight from Jeddah Airport to Madinah?
Some pilgrims start their trip in Madinah and do Umrah later. If your flight lands in Jeddah, a Jeddah Airport to Madinah taxi takes you from the arrivals hall to your hotel in one journey, with no train station or second flight in between.
Starting in Madinah gives you time to rest after a long flight, pray at Al-Masjid an-Nabawi and settle in before Umrah. When you travel on to Makkah, you enter Ihram at Dhul Hulayfah on the way, with a proper stop to wash and change.
Do you need Ihram if you go to Madinah first?
If you go to Madinah first, the usual position is that you do not need Ihram on the flight or on the drive. You enter Ihram later at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), when you travel from Madinah to Makkah.
Make the plan before you fly. If you might go to Makkah first after all, or you are unsure about your own case, ask a scholar you trust. Our Miqat locations guide explains the five Miqat points and which road passes each.
What happens when you land at Jeddah?
- Send us your flight number when you book. We track the flight, so the driver adjusts to the real landing time.
- After landing, the driver waits free for 60 minutes. In Terminal 1 he waits in the arrivals hall at the exit gate after customs, holding a name board.
- Landing at the Hajj Terminal on a charter? Tell us and we confirm the meeting point for that terminal before you fly.
- The driver helps with your luggage and walks you to the car.
- If you need a SIM card, food or a prayer stop before the long drive, tell us when you book and the driver plans it.
- In Madinah, the driver drops you at your hotel's assigned entrance and helps with the bags.
How long is the drive, and how tiring is it?
The drive is 402 km and takes about 5 h. Our drivers take Route 15 via Rabigh and Badr, a dual carriageway throughout, with a rest stop at Rabigh or Badr. Rest, prayer and meal stops are included in the fare.
After a long flight, space matters more than usual. A comfort MPV or SUV gives a family room to sleep, and the road is quieter at night. Pickups between 00:00 and 05:00 carry a 20% night surcharge, shown in your quote.
If you land late and would rather rest first, take a short ride to a hotel in central Jeddah, about 20 km from the airport and from SAR 60 per car, then travel on the next morning with the Jeddah to Madinah taxi, from SAR 720.

There are three ways to reach Madinah from Jeddah Airport. Train and airline fares and timetables change, so check the operator before you choose.

|---|---|---|
| Taxi | Arrivals hall to your hotel, one vehicle, all bags with you | Families, night arrivals, heavy luggage |
| Haramain train | From King Abdulaziz Airport Station at Terminal 1; Madinah station is about 10 km from central hotels, so you need a taxi at the end | One or two people with light bags |
| Domestic flight | A connecting flight to Madinah Airport, about 18 km from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi | Travellers whose ticket includes the connection |
Arriving in Madinah
Central Madinah has controlled vehicle access around Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, so the driver drops you at your hotel's assigned entrance. Hotels outside the central zone have easy car access. Our Madinah hotel areas guide explains the difference.
Hotel check-in times vary, so if you arrive early in the morning, ask your hotel in advance about early check-in or storing your bags. A visit to the Rawdah is booked through Nusuk, so book your slot early and check the current rules there.
When you are ready to move on, the Madinah to Makkah taxi stops at Dhul Hulayfah for Ihram at no extra charge.
