Why book a taxi on WhatsApp?
You can book a taxi on WhatsApp in Saudi Arabia the same way you message your family: no app to download, no account to create and no card details to enter. Everything we agree, from the fare to the pickup point, stays in the chat, so you can check it later or show it to the driver.
WhatsApp also works over hotel or airport Wi-Fi with your home number, which helps if you have not bought a Saudi SIM yet. Our guide to Saudi SIM cards and eSIMs explains your options for mobile data.
Step by step: booking a taxi on WhatsApp
- Tap the WhatsApp button on any page of this site, or save +966 57 951 9804 and open a chat.
- Send your pickup, drop-off, date, time, number of passengers and number of suitcases.
- We reply with a fixed price for the car within 5 minutes, 24 hours a day.
- Reply to confirm. Nothing is paid at this stage.
- The day before, you receive the driver's name and plate number.
- On the day, the driver messages you when on the way and shares a live location.
- Check the plate against our message before you get in, then pay at the ride as agreed.
What to put in your first message
- Pickup: hotel name and city, a home address or a location pin. For an airport, your flight number and the terminal on your ticket.
- Drop-off: hotel name or address.
- Date and time, in the 24-hour clock.
- Passengers: adults and children, with the children's ages if you need child seats.
- Suitcases and other large items, such as a pushchair, a wheelchair or Zamzam.
- Any stops: the Miqat, a prayer stop, a second hotel or a Ziyarat site.
- Requests: a female driver (book at least 12 hours ahead), a wheelchair-accessible van, a pet, or a driver who speaks your language.
- How you plan to pay.
An example booking message
You can copy this and fill in the brackets:
"Assalamu alaikum. I would like a taxi. From: [hotel name], Makkah. To: [hotel name], Madinah. Date: [date], pickup at 09:00. 4 adults and 2 children aged [ages], 6 suitcases. 2 child seats please. Stop at Badr on the way. Urdu-speaking driver if possible. Which vehicle do you suggest?"
We reply with the vehicle we suggest, the fixed fare and anything we need to check with you.
What happens after you book?
The day before the trip you receive the driver's name and plate. For an airport pickup we track your flight, the driver waits with a name board, and the 60 minutes of free waiting start when you land. At a hotel or home, the driver waits 15 minutes free from the booked time.
On the day, keep WhatsApp open. The driver may message you to agree the exact spot, especially at busy hotels near the Haram, where cars use set pickup and drop-off points. Our guide to sharing your location with a driver shows how to send a pin.
Changing, cancelling and paying
- To change the time, vehicle or address, message the same chat. Changes are free whenever possible, and if the price changes we confirm it before the ride.
- Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
- No payment is taken until the ride. Pay the driver in cash (SAR) or by card, or pay before the ride by bank transfer or the STC Bank app if you prefer.
- Companies can open a corporate account with monthly invoicing.
