How far is Jeddah Airport from your hotel?
A Jeddah Airport taxi is the simplest way to reach a hotel in the city. King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is on the north side of Jeddah, about 20 km from the city centre, and the drive takes around 25 min when the roads are clear.
Jeddah stretches a long way along the Red Sea coast, so the real time depends on where your hotel is and when you land. Business travellers mostly stay along Prince Sultan Road, Tahlia Street and the Corniche, and other hotels are spread across the city, from the northern districts to the area around Al-Balad, the historic old town. Allow extra time in the evening, and on weekend evenings near the Corniche.
Taxi fares from Jeddah Airport to city hotels
Fares are per car, not per person, and fixed before you fly. They include fuel, the driver and meet-and-greet at arrivals. A 20% night surcharge applies at night (00:00–05:00) and is shown in your quote, so the price you agree is the price you pay.

Where does the driver meet you at Terminal 1?
Most scheduled flights use Terminal 1, and our meeting point there is the arrivals hall, at the exit gate after customs. Your driver stands there with a name board. We track your flight, so the driver works to the real landing time, not the time on your ticket. He waits free for 60 minutes after you land, and there is no extra charge for airline delays. You receive the driver's name and plate number the day before.
What are the other ways from the airport to a Jeddah hotel?
You do not have to pre-book. App, rental and train prices change, so check the operator on the day.
The Haramain station at Terminal 1 mainly serves travellers going on to Makkah or Madinah. For a Jeddah hotel, a car from the airport is usually simpler than a train ride followed by a taxi from the city station in Al Sulaymaniyah.

Is pre-booking worth it for a short city ride?
For a solo traveller with one bag landing in the afternoon, the taxi rank or an app works well, and you may not need to book ahead. Pre-booking earns its place when something makes the first hour harder: a family with several suitcases, a landing after midnight, a phone without local data, or a meeting you cannot miss.
With a booking, you know the car, the driver and the price before you take off. If you need a van for a large family, a child seat or a female driver, it is arranged in advance rather than hoped for at the rank.
From your Jeddah hotel to Makkah, Al-Balad or the Corniche
If you stay a night in Jeddah before Umrah, the onward ride is short: Jeddah to Makkah is 95 km, about 1 h 15 min, from SAR 170 per car. Entry to Makkah is for Muslims only.
For sightseeing, Al-Balad, the UNESCO-listed old town, is best in the cooler evenings, and King Fahd's Fountain is lit at night off the Corniche. A driver by the hour costs from SAR 80 per hour with a 3-hour minimum and waits at each stop.
Leaving Jeddah: hotel to airport checklist
- Send your airline and flight number when you book, so we check the terminal and drop you at the right one.
- Check your airline's check-in and bag-drop deadlines; they differ between airlines and between domestic and international flights.
- Allow about 25 min for the drive from a central hotel, plus extra time in the evening and at weekends.
- If an early flight means leaving at night (00:00–05:00), the 20% night surcharge is already in your quote.
- Note the driver's name and plate number, which we send the day before.
- Pay in cash (SAR) or by card in the car, or by bank transfer or the STC Bank app before the ride.
