What is Riyadh Season and when does it run?
Riyadh Season is the capital's winter festival of concerts, shows, sports and food zones across the city, and it usually runs from about October to March. Riyadh Season transport needs a little planning, because evening traffic around the zones is heavy and drop-off points move with event layouts.
Zones, dates and ticket rules change every season. Check the official Riyadh Season programme for this year's events, then use this guide to plan your rides.
How do you get to Boulevard City?
Boulevard City is a large entertainment district in Hittin, about 15 km from the city centre, and it hosts many Riyadh Season events. A typical visit lasts around three hours. Drop-off points change with event layouts, so tell the driver the gate or venue on your ticket and the driver uses the nearest permitted point.
Book your return before you go in. When a big show ends, the crowd leaves at once, and finding a ride on the spot is slow.
What does a Riyadh Season ride cost?
Fares are per car and fixed before the ride, with no surge pricing. Many shows end late: rides between 00:00 and 05:00 carry a 20% night surcharge, shown in your quote.
| Trip | Vehicle | Fare from |
|---|---|---|
| Central Riyadh to Boulevard City (about 15 km) | Economy sedan, up to 3 | SAR 60 |
| Central Riyadh to Boulevard City (about 15 km) | Standard sedan, up to 3 | SAR 70 |
| Central Riyadh to Boulevard City (about 15 km) | Family van, up to 11 | SAR 120 |
| Riyadh to Diriyah | Economy sedan | SAR 60 |
| Riyadh Airport (RUH) to central Riyadh | Economy sedan | SAR 60 |
| Hourly driver | Economy sedan | SAR 80 per hour |
| Hourly driver | SUV, up to 7 | SAR 180 per hour |
Hourly driver or one-way rides?
If you plan one venue, book a one-way ride there and a fixed return time. If your night includes dinner, a show and a café, an hourly driver is simpler: the driver waits at each stop, so you do not search for parking or a ride between venues. Hourly drivers are popular for nights out with several stops.
Our hourly vs point-to-point comparison sets out when each option works out cheaper.
Diriyah, Bujairi Terrace and other winter events
Diriyah is 20 km from Riyadh, about 25 min by car. Evening traffic to Bujairi Terrace is heavy, so book your return in advance. Other winter dates to plan around:
- At-Turaif, Diriyah: the UNESCO-listed mud-brick district; visits may need timed tickets, so check before you go.
- Bujairi Terrace: a dining terrace overlooking At-Turaif; weekend evenings are the busiest.
- Diriyah E-Prix: Formula E races at night on a street circuit in Diriyah, usually early in the year; traffic builds before the race.
- MDLBEAST Soundstorm: a large music festival on the outskirts of Riyadh, usually in December; drop-off zones change each year.
- Founding Day, 22 February: heritage events across the country, and Diriyah is busy.
Flying into Riyadh for the season
King Khalid International Airport (RUH) is about 35 km north of Olaya, roughly 40 min by car, and peak traffic on King Fahd Road can add 20 minutes. Terminals 1 and 2 handle international flights; tell us your airline and we meet you at the right terminal. The flight is tracked and the driver waits free for 60 minutes after landing.
The Riyadh Metro also serves the airport and suits travellers with light bags whose hotel is near a station. With luggage, children or a late arrival, a car to your door is simpler.
Tips for a smooth night out
- Book the return before you go in, with a time or a pickup window.
- Agree a meeting point a short walk from the exit, away from the main crowd.
- Save the driver's WhatsApp number; the driver messages you when he is on the way.
- Families can book a family van for up to 11 people, with child seats on request.
- Women who prefer it can book a female driver in Riyadh; book 12 hours ahead.
- Ride-hailing apps work for a quick ride, but their prices change with demand when everyone leaves at once.
